With Cartoon Network airing the final two episodes of Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl this month, fans were wondering when CN would air Pokemon: Black & White (Known in Japan as Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes). Well, the answer is February 12, with two new episodes at 9:00 AM.

Pokemon: Black & White is the fourth Pokemon anime series based on the best selling video game franchise from Nintendo. The anime franchise has been running in Japan since 1997, and currently has over 660 episodes, 13 anime films, over 15 specials, and a spinoff series, not to mention over 14 manga series and tons of merchandise.

The video games are all licensed in North America by Nintendo. A few of the manga are licensed in North America by Viz Media. The anime was previously licensed by 4Kids and aired on Kids WB, but as of 2008, the anime was re-licensed by The Pokemon Company, and airs on Cartoon Network.

Pokemon: Black & White is animated by Oriental Light and Magic (Berserk, every other Pokemon anime) and directed by Norihiko Sudo (Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl, ToHeart2).

In Japan, Black & White has so far gained better reviews than the former series, with people calling it a breath of fresh air.
