New Games Coming out this Month

Posted in Video Games with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 17, 2011 by Pirate

This month is being overshadowed by some of the next few months coming up, but we have some at least decent games this month too.

On September 19, we have two Nintendo DS releases: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 and Kirby: Mass Attack. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 is the second game in a spin-off from the Dragon Quest RPG series from Square Enix. In this game, you can collect monsters, kinda like Pokemon, but unlike Pokemon, you can also mix them to create whole new monsters, which sounds pretty fun. And it still features are from Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball). Kirby: Mass Attack is differant than most Kirby games in that instead of being a platformer or sidescroller, it’s more of a strategy game. In the game, Kirby is split into ten Kirbys, and with the DS stylus, you need to control all those little critters in able to get across specific challenges.

Then, on September 20th, we have Gears of War 3 for the Xbox 360. Gears of War 3 is the third game in the third-person shooter series, and will be the final game for this story arc. It has over 1 million pre-orders, making it one of the most anticipated games of the year, helped by a release date delay.

Then on September 21, the PSP will be getting Persona 2: Innocent Sin (Sin can be innocent?).  The game is part of the popular and disturbing Persona JRPG series from Atlus. This game, as per the course for this series, will have anime-style characters and weird diologue to match a strange plot.

Then, on September 27th, X-Men: Destiny will be released on the PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360. The game will have original characters working with old comic characters side-by-side in a platformer setting. It looks fun, but early reviews haven’t been so nice.

Of course, there are many others. Remember, buy games and support the gaming industry.

Nintendo 3DS video games that I plan on buying

With the Nintendo 3DS supposedly being released in North America around March or April, I figured that I would tell you guys the games announced for the console that I want and why.

Batman 3DS. Yes, there is a Batman game announced for the 3DS. Don’t believe me? Search around the web, and you should find it. I heard that the Batman games for the PS3 are really good, so I think that a Batman game for the 3DS may just have potential.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II. I have always admired the BlazBlue series for its fast, anime-style gameplay. I never got this game, but as a fan of both fighting games and anime, this is a must-buy title for me when it is released in 2011.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions. I am addmittedly not a fan of the DoA series (although I am planning on buying one for the PS2) but this game’s trailer looked really awesome, and the 3D really helps the game. Also, it has a guest star from Ninja Gaiden. Cool.

Dynasty Warriors: Chronicle. Well, I am a fan of the Dynasty series, and so far, there seems no reason for me not to buy the game, so i’ll probably at least give it a rent.

Dragon Ball. So far, there is nothing known about this game at all, but like above, so far there is no reason for me NOT to get the game. So…

Gundam: The 3D Battle. I hope this game is licensed. I am a fan of all Gundam video games, but none for the DS were licensed. If this one is licensed, I’ll have to get it. All that sweet, 3D mecha action. In space. With politics. OH YEAH!

Kid Icarus: Uprising. Okay, the gameplay looks sweet, the graphics look extraordinary for a small console, you can fly and fight againts hordes of demons, and more than one person has called this game the best 3DS game yet. Of course I am getting this!

Kingdom Hearts 3D. Kingdom Hearts has become one of my favorite video game series ever, so this game is automaticlly a must-buy. Also, no one seems to know when this game takes place, adding mystery to it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I loved Wind Waker. I really, really enjoyed that game. And this game inspired it. Also, its a classic and everyone calls it the best Legend of Zelda game ever. So, I need to get it.

Mega Man Legends 3. I never played the first two, but I heard they were great. Besides, I always enjoy Mega Man games, and this being a 3D platformer Mega Man game helps it all the more.

Mario Kart 3DS. This is only a maybe. I was never crazy about the Mario Kart series, ut if this one gets good reviews, than I guess I may get it.

Naruto 3DS. I love the Naruto franchise. ’nuff said, I think. Also, in 3D.

Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet. This game is also for normal DS, but yeah, I think I’ll wait for 3DS. Plus, I enjoyed Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and fans call this game MUA junior, so…

Paper Mario 3DS. Well, I enjoyed games 2 and 3 of Paper Mario, so if this a remake of the first one, I’ll get it. Even if it isn’t, I’ll get it.

Samurai Warriors: Chronicle. This game is the latest in another beat ’em up series that I like, so I’ll get it, if not just cause its a beat ’em up.

Star Fox 64 3DS. As a fan of Star Fox who has never played 64, I owe it to myself to get this flight/sci-fi remake of a classic game.

Yu-Gi-Oh 3DS. Yes, they announced a 3DS Yu-Gi-Oh game. I may get it, may not.

Anyway, that is my list. Thoughts?

Underrated, un-popular games that I own part 1

Posted in Video Games with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 19, 2010 by Pirate

As a game collector, I have played and bought many games that would make people ask “What then heck is that game? I have never heard of it, so it must be really suckish!”. Well, that isn’t always the case. Unknown games can be fun, too. To be fair, when it comes to games, I am not very picky at all. I will enjoy and game short of puzzle games. Anyway, here is the list:

1. Draglade. Known in Japan as Custom Beat Battle Draglade, this game for the Nintendo DS mixes fighting, anime-ish RPG, and even…music. Yes, you heard right. Music. This game was released in North America by Atlus USA, and I am glad too. The game takes place in a post-modern world where everyone has this device called a G-Con. G-Cons are toys/weapons that people use in friendly competition, but like many toyetic anime, the villains also use these for their evil goals. The game is pretty fun, and I would reccomend it to anyone who like fighting games that make you use musical combos. It has a sequel, but a US release seems not-so-likely.

2. Mystic Heroes. Mystic Heroes is a Japanese beat ’em up video game based on a Chinese novel, Fengshen Yanyi. The game was released for the Nintendo Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation 2. It was published by Koei. The game is just like Dynasty Warriors for a younger age. Imagine all the characters smaller and younger, and the game not as long, and there you have it. If you like beat ’em ups like Dynasty Warriors, GET THIS GAME. Don’t let the “For younger audiences” thing scare you, this is almost as hardcore as beat ’em ups get. P.S. I got the Gamecube version.

3. Transformers. No, not the games based on the films. Everybody knows about those. No, I mean the 2004 PlayStation 2 video game published by Atari based on the Transformers: Armada anime series. This game trumps all the film-based video games. There are no annoying humans. There are no levels that have nothing to do with the plot. There are no annoying side-missions. The graphics are actually better, and I loved the cutscenes. If you are a Transformers fan with a PS2 and you don’t have this game, then hurry and get it.

4. Spyborgs. Spyborgs is a sci-fi beat ’em up for the Nintendo Wii, and was published by Capcom. This game is surprisingly good, although the plot left alot to be desired. This game is from some of the same creators as some of the Ratchet and Clank games, so the battle style is similar. You blast things, these things drop colorful orbs, its chaotic, and its crazy. Still, I liked it, and I hope it sells well. This game is begging for a sequel.

Thats it for today. I’ll have some more soon.

I would like a Kingdom Hearts TV series.

No, really, I would. I like the games, and I think that a single film wouldn’t be able to fully show the whole plot. A anime series would be really cool, and Disney XD could air it.

I wouldn’t ming CGI or normal anime animation. Either would be fine, as long as it was created. I would watch it, for sure. They might have to change some of the voice actors, but thats fine too.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Sorry if the post seems rushed, but I am in a hurry.
